“EUmetriosis has a bold vision: to develop more personalised and effective fertility care for people with endometriosis.” – Dr. Paola Viganò, Team Lead.

The Italian team at IRCCS Fondazione Ca’ Granda Policlinico, Milan, exemplifies the multidisciplinary spirit of EUmetriosis. They are combining clinical expertise, data science, nutrition, and psychological support to tackle the complexities of endometriosis and fertility care.

Dr. Paola Viganò, PhD, IVF Lab Coordinator and local team lead, brings extensive expertise in reproductive medicine. Her work focuses on understanding the complex links between endometriosis and fertility. She says:

“By integrating clinical, biological, and lifestyle data across disciplines, we aim to go beyond one-size-fits-all solutions and embrace truly individualized care.”

As the team’s data manager and statistician, Dr. Marco Reschini, MSc transforms complex clinical and biological data into actionable insights. His work ensures that the project’s findings are backed by rigorous evidence. He says:

“By combining data science with clinical insight, I strive to strengthen the evidence base for more precise, personalized approaches to women’s health.”

Dr. Noemi Salmeri, MD, gynecologist and PhD student, bridges the gap between patient care and research. She conducts clinical and ultrasound assessments while ensuring participants receive comprehensive follow-up.

“My goal within EUmetriosis is to bridge the gap between clinical practice and research, contributing to a better understanding of the disease and helping to design integrated, patient-centered care strategies.”

As the team’s Clinical Nutritionist and PhD candidate, Dr. Martina Abodi, MSc, designs anti-inflammatory dietary interventions tailored to the needs of participants with endometriosis, supporting both fertility and quality of life.

“Nutrition and lifestyle are powerful tools. They help relieve symptoms, improve quality of life, and align perfectly with EUmetriosis’ holistic, patient-focused approach.”
